Blues Shut Out By Red Wings

January 6, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The Blues were no match for the Red Wings on Thursday, as Detroit shut out St. Louis 3-0. Pavel Datsyuk got the Red Wings on the board at the 9:42 mark of the first period with a power-play goal. It was his 16th goal of the season.

Detroit struck again with 1:40 remaining in the first, when Kris Draper beat Blues goaltender Curtis Sanford with a short-handed goal to make it 2-0 Red Wings.

Henrik Zetterberg scored for the 18th time this season when he found the back of the net with 1:45 to go in the game for the 3-0 final.

Sanford faced 31 shots on goal—14 in the first period. Meanwhile the Blues didn’t give Red Wings goaltender Manny Legace much of a challenge, putting just 15 shots on goal in the loss.
