Missouri Schools Get Low Grades in National Survey

January 5, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

A national survey of the way states hold schools accountable for test results and how well states measure what students know says Missouri is well below average in one major category. The Quality Counts study published by Education Week, a respected trade journal, gives Missouri a D plus on standards and accountability. The survey gives Missouri B and C grades in school climate, resource equity, and efforts to improve teacher quality. Overall, Missouri gets a C plus, which is the national average. State education officials say the survey’s grading system is incomplete.
