Veterans Commission Claims Many Vets Not Getting What They’re Owed

December 29, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The State Veterans Commission says only a small percentage of Missouri veterans and widows are getting the benefits to which they’re entitled – less than ten percent. Executive Director Ron Taylor says there’s no significant follow-up when someone leaves the military to make sure they get their benefits. Taylor says about 60,000 Missouri veterans and their dependents are getting veterans benefits – but he thinks 650,000 to 700,000 veterans or dependents are potentially eligible.
