As the year draws to a close, many Missourians are making end-of-year contributions to charities. But these good-hearted people must make sure they are not getting ripped off. Most charities provide receipts for tax purposes – provided, of course, the charities are legitimate. But what about legitimate charities that use much of the money for purposes other than the actual causes? Laura Krasser with the Missouri Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division says contributors can make informed decisions by logging onto the AG’s web site and clicking the Check A Charity link.
