Attorneys for the Public Service Commission and several utilities companies are engaged in discussions to set a date for a hearing before a Cole County Judge who denied a request, from the utilities, to block implementation of PSC changes to the state’s Cold Weather Rule. Those changes would make it easier for a customer who has been disconnected to get the heat back on. Judge Richard Callahan wants to hear legal arguments on the merits of the actual rule changes. PSC General Counsel Dan Joyce says a ruling will follow that hearing and it will likely be appealed. Joyce says he expects that hearing to take place the week of January 9th.
