We hear a lot about the shopping frenzy in the day before Christmas, but there’s quite a bit of retail activity on the day after Christmas. The British call it Boxing Day. We just call it the day after Christmas. Whatever you call it, it’s a busy day for merchants. For the longest time, things got busy because of gift givers and receivers returning things that were too small or too large or were the wrong color or maybe they didn’t work properly. Now, many of the post-Christmas shoppers are looking for bargains. David Overfelt, President of the Missouri Retailers Association, says some shoppers even put off buying their gifts until after Christmas. Monday’s hustle and bustle is likely to be extended over the next few days. Overfelt says some retailers end the year “in the black” thanks to money made during post-Christmas sales.
