When discussing the future of Dick Vermeil in Kansas City, one must be ready for a change of heart. Over the last couple of years, the Chiefs head coach has hinted at retiring, but hasn’t done so yet. On Monday, at his weekly press conference, Vermeil said that a decision will be made in the next three weeks. He said he has thought about the possibility, especially after losses like the ones they’ve suffered to Dallas (31-28) and the New York Giants (27-17) over the last two weeks.

In the past Vermeil has indicated that he would be more inclined to come back if he thought the team had a chance at winning a Super Bowl. The Chiefs are 8-6 and an outside contender for the final wild card spot in the AFC. They’re a game behind San Diego and Pittsburgh who are currently fighting over that spot. The Chiefs and Chargers meet on Saturday at Arrowhead.
