MU senior safety and defensive captain Jason Simpson was suspended from the team on Tuesday following an arrest on marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession. He will miss the Tiger’s December 30 Independence Bowl, which means his career at Mizzou is now over.

Police were called to Simpson’s home on Sunday night after neighbors made a noise complaint. He apparently failed to appear in court on a littering charge and police searched his residence. It was then that police found the marijuana and paraphernalia.

Simpson was second on the team in tackles and had 12 pass breakups, which was tied for first on the team.

Redshirt freshman William Moore has been promoted to starter.
