It took a while, but the Missouri St. women’s basketball team finally played their game in the Fun in the Sun Shootout in Mexico, though a lot of the so-called fun has been hard to find. The tournament was put on hold when the teams arrived and saw that the basketball court, which suffered flooding from Hurricane Wilma, was unplayable. The tournament was supposed to start on Sunday. It tournament was moved to nearby Aventrua Spa Palace in Riviera Maya. The Lady Bears, didn’t seem to be affected by the delay as they took a 64-60 win over Illinois-Chicago in their opening round game.

Senior guard Kari Koch was held to four points in the first half and MSU led 28-27 at the half. But she exploded over the final 20 minutes to finish with 22 on the night. Sophomore Tiff Terwelp scored a career high 18 points and pulled own 11 boards, while Sarah Klaassen scored 13 and grabbed 11 rebounds.

With the win, Missouri St. improved to 4-2 on the season and will face Oral Roberts University in the championship game tonight.
