Senator Kit Bond says he did not know ahead of time of President Bush’s authorization of secret spying on telephone conversations within the United States, but if he did, he would have backed it. Bond is now worried the information getting out will compromise U.S. security. Republican Bond also wonders if some Democrats who were so upset over the disclosure of the name of CIA operative Valerie Plame – allegedly by someone within the Bush Administration – will call for the same amount of prosecution for whoever compromised this intel information.
