He was sent to the reformitory at Boonville in chains to face a three-year sentence for stealing money from a coin changer on a trolley car. He decided he would never get into trouble again, and would always help youngsters keep out of trouble. He started boxing during those years. He had sixteen fights and won fifteen of them by knockouts. Archie Moore became on of the ring’s greats. He was born in Mississippi but was raised in Missouri by an aunt and uncle. He fell in with a rough crowd and ended up at the Missouri Training School in Booneville.
