Missouri State Cuts Five Sports

December 16, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Missouri State University’s Board of Governors approved the proposal by school President Doctor Michael Nietzel to eliminate five sports. Gone are men’s indoor and outdoor track, men’s cross country, and men’s and women’s tennis. School leaders say this move is needed to control costs as the university faces budget cuts from the state. Missouri State will have six men’s sports left – the minimum for NCAA Division One membership.
