Children Injured in Taum Sauk Breach Remain Hospitalized

December 15, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

One child remains in critical condition, while two others have been upgraded to serious condition as they recover from the flooding that occurred as a result of the breach in the Taum Sauk Reservoir dam in southeast Missouri. 5-year-old Tanner Toops, who is still listed as critical, is recovering from their ordeal at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. His brother, Tucker, and sister, Tara, are there as well. The children’s father, Jerry Toops, is the Superintendent at Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park. Toops, his wife, their three children, and their home were swept away when the dam gave way around 5:30 Wednesday morning.
