Sanford’s Shut Out Leads Blues Over Penguins

December 14, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Curtis Sanford’s first game as the official starting goaltender for the Blues went well. He stopped 21 shots in a 3-0 shutout of the Penguins. After a scoreless first period, Keith Tkachuk needed just 56 seconds of 2nd period to get St. Louis on the board to make it 1-0. Tkachuk now has eight goals and seven assists in just nine games this season.

Jamal Mayers made it 2-0 with short-handed goal with 5:08 to go in the game. Doug Weight scored an empty-netter with 50 seconds remaining.

Patrick Lalime went unclaimed yesterday, clearing waivers and has been reassigned to the Blues minor league affiliate in Peoria.
