The St. Louis Cardinals have some holes in their bullpen and they made the first move to fill those holes on Monday. Needing a left-handed reliever, the team has come an agreement with Ricardo Rincon, who pitched for the A’s last season. In 67 appearances in 2005, Rincon pitched 37 1/3 innings and went 1-1 with a 4.34 ERA.

The need for a lefty arose when the Cardinals traded Ray King to the Rockies for second baseman Aaron Miles and outfielder Larry Bigbie.

The Cardinals will be looking for more help in the bullpen thanks to Cal Eldred’s retirement, Julian Tavarez not being resigned and Al Reyes’ recuperation from ligament-replacement surgery.

Rincon has agreed to a two-year deal which is believed to be valued at $2.9 million.
