Remarks by a prominent state Democrat against some prominent national Democrats doesn’s seem to bother the Chairman of the Missouri Democrats. State Auditor Claire McCaskill, who’s running for the U.S. Senate against Republican Senator Jim Talent, says Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean’s remarks that the United States cannot win the war in Iraq were offensive to her, adding Dean should not speak for Democrats nationally. Missouri Democratic Party Chairman Roger Wilson won’t say whether or not he agrees with her, but he doesn’t believe her remarks will hurt the flow of the national party’s money into the state. Wilson also says no other state Democrats have talked to him about keeping certain national Democrats out of the state during next year’s campaigns. McCaskill said she’s turned down some national Democrats who want to campaign in Missouri for her.
