Southeast Missouri St. dropped to 1-1 on the season with a 65-64 loss to Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne on Tuesday at the Show-Me Center in Cape Girardeau. Things started slowly for the Redhawks, as IPFW jumped out to a 13-0 lead. SEMO trailed 38-25 at the half and trailed the Mastodons by as many as 17 in the second half..

Led by senior transfer Roy Booker, who scored 25 points, the Redhawks slowly chipped away at the lead, but couldn’t get over the hump. Booker’s three-pointer with 23 seconds to go cut IPFW’s lead to 63-62. On the next possession, SEMO quickly fouled Brad Pompey, who missed the front end of a one-and-one. But Booker threw a pass out of bounds, ending the SEMO threat. IPFW made a couple of free throws and SEMO got a late tip-in off a missed three by Booker.
