The Department of Economic Development’s Incentives Review Committee has issued its final report on the effectiveness of incentives programs. The Committee, made up of business leaders and Department of Economic Development officials, was formed in April to evaluate 62 state and local incentive programs established over the last three decades. The Department’s Paul Sloca says the recommendations now go to Governor Matt Blunt and the Legislature. Sloca says the idea to take a hard look at incentives has been on the Governor’s mind since last year. Recommendations call for most incentive programs to be maintained or improved, and some to be scrapped. Among those targeted for elimination: the Film Production Tax Credit.
