Missouri’s business community is getting on board the effort to support stem cell research in Missouri. Dan Mehan, President of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says the Chamber is supporting the Missouri Stem Cell Research and Cures Initiative because of the potential health benefits and the desire to have research conducted here in Missouri. Mehan says both the economic and health benefits to Missouri cannot be overlooked. Signatures are now being collected to put the Initiative on the November, 2006 ballot. Approval would allow Missouri to engage in all stem cell research that is legal at the federal level. It would also ban human cloning.
