Westminster College in Fulton has announced it will celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Winston Churchill’s famous “Iron Curtain” speech with a weekend of activities next March. Westminster President Fletcher Lamkin says members of the Churchill family have already committed to attending the festivities and many other authors and scholars are expected to come. Fletcher expects the weekend to ramfications for the college into the future. Churchill came to the mid-Missouri college at the invitation of President Truman. Few knew at the time that he would deliver a speech that would coin the phrase used to describe the countries taken over by the Soviet Union. Speakers will be announced later.
