Missouri’s top man on military matters before Congress is not getting answers to some questions he’s asking military officials and his patience seems to be wearing thin.West Central Missouri Congressman Ike Skelton, the ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, wants to know where all the money Congress gave the National Guard went. A recent Government Accounting Office report showed Missouri’s Guard had only about a third of the equipment it needed to get the job done. That infuriated Skelton, who says that Congress has authorized the Guard to buy the equipment it needs and has provided the money. Skelton says he’s been asking officials for a week what happened to the money appropriated, but has yet to get an answer back.
