Governor Blunt has ordered an investigation into the death of a southwest Missouri Medicaid patient. 63-year-old Willie Reed of Republican was found dead in his home. He had been scheduled to be picked up for an early morning doctor’s appointment in St. Louis Blunt has directed the Department of Social Services to conduct an examination into non-emergency transportation services. Reed’s ride to the doctor was supposed to be arranged by LogistiCare Solutions LLC under a state contract that took effect at the beginning of the month. Police believe Reed died before his scheduled pick-up time. Blunt has requested the department speak with local officials and confirm a timeline of events, the details of the contractor’s responsibilities and a thorough analysis of the death. A report and its concluding recommendations are to be submitted to the governor.
