Dems and Republicans Reflect on Tuesday’s Results

November 9, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The dust has started to settle from Tuesday’s legislative special elections, with Democrats and Republicans each offering their own take on what happened. Republicans held a Senate seat while swapping House seats with the Democrats. Missouri Republican Party Spokesman John Hancock is pleased with wins in two of the three contests, but is disappointed to lose the St. Louis County seat that had been held by the late Representative Richard Byrd. Missouri Democratic Party Spokesman Jack Cardetti is thrilled with the pick-up in St. Louis County, but sorry to lose the central Missouri seat previously held by now-Senator Frank Barnitz. Both Hancock and Cardetti expect their respective parties to recapture the lost seats in next year’s general election.
