Jamie McMurray got his wish and three teams will be affected. The Joplin native will be released from his contract at Ganassi Racing and begin his career with Roush Racing. In July McMurray signed a deal with Roush, which was supposed to begin in 2007, after his deal with Ganassi expired. McMurray was hoping to be let out early, though Ganassi wasn’t interested in doing that originally. However, Ganassi has decided cut their field from four teams to three in 2006 and released McMurray.

With the move, McMurray will take over Kurt Busch’s ride at Roush. Busch, who was the 2004 Nextel Cup Champ, will now join the Penske racing team and take over St. Louis native, Rusty Wallace’s ride. Wallace is retiring.

McMurray, who failed to qualify for the Race For The Cup, is currently in 11th place in the points standings with two races to go. He can finish no better than 11th.
