The Northwest Missouri St. Bearcats will be the only Show-Me State representative in the NCAA Division II playoffs, which get underway on Saturday. The Bearcats (7-3) just barely made the post-season by grabbing the sixth and final seed in the Southwest Region Bracket. Their opponent will be third seeded Angelo (Texas) St. University (9-2).

This marks the eighth time in the last ten seasons that Northwest has advanced to the post season and the tenth time in school history. They were back-to-back NCAA Division II National Champions in 1998 and 1999.

NWMSU wrapped up their regular season with a 49-14 blasting of Southwest Baptist on Saturday and finished with a 6-2 record in the MIAA Conference. Two other MIAA have advanced to the playoffs. 5th seeded Pittsburgh St. will travel to 4th seeded Nebraska-Kearney and Washburn, which got a first-round bye, will face the winner of NWMSU/San Angelo St.
