Missouri’s Military Preparedness and Enhancement Commission was the scene of a lively debate as a proposal was discussed to appoint military members from Whiteman Air Force Base and Fort Leonard Wood to the Knob Knoster and Waynesville School Boards. Board members complained that would be unfair since other school members had to be elected. But the Chairman of the Commission, Dalton Wright, admits the school board members were more receptive to the idea of changing residency requirements so military people could be elected to the positions. Wright says a task force will be formed to look into what changes in Missouri’s laws might have to be made to allow military personnel to be elected to school boards.
