Boone County Medical Examiner, Valerie Rao, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Monday that the report she received from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the autopsy of Missouri football player Aaron O’Neal confirmed what she believed—that O’Neal’s death on July 11 was the result of viral meningitis. O’Neal died shortly after a voluntary workout at Faurot Field. A wrongful death lawsuit is still pending by O’Neal’s father. In it, trainer Pat Ivey, head football coach Gary Pinkel and Director of Athletics Mike Alden are named as defendants.
