Struggle Continues At Rams Park

October 26, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Questions still linger as the certainty of Mike Martz’s return as head coach of the Rams in 2006. Both he and Rams President John Shaw said they expect him to return, there re some things that need to be resolved. Martz and Rams President of Football Operations, Jay Zygmunt do not get along and there is the question of Martz’s contract, which ends after the 2006 season. Shaw told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the team will have a tough time re-signing Martz if Martz wants to “dictate” terms of a contract extension.

Shaw also told the paper that the team offered Martz an extension back in June that would be based on the team’s performance, but Shaw said Martz rejected it because Martz didn’t feel he had to prove himself.
