Jeff Gordon was the winner in the NASCAR race in Martinsville, Virginia on Sunday. It was his seventh win at the race track. Jamie McMurray was the highest-finishing Missourian, coming in seventh, while Fenton native Ken Schrader checked in at 13th and St. Louis native Mike Wallace was 35th.

It was a tough day for a couple of other Missourians, but their finishes on Sunday didn’t have a negative impact in the points’ standings. St. Louis native Rusty Wallace finished 19th at Martinsville, while Columbia native Carl Edwards was 26th, yet Wallace moved up one spot to sixth in the race for the cup and Edwards jumped up to fifth.

With four races to go, Edwards trails leader Tony Stewart by 149 points and Wallace trails him by 166.

McMurray moved up three spots to 11th, which is as high as he can finish this season.
