The Missouri State High School Activities Association’s softball tournament got underway on Wednesday. The defending champion in Class 4 was shown the door in the sectionals, as Liberty (21-5) fell to Oak Park (16-11) 3-1. Another favorite in Class 4, Poplar Bluff (24-3) was knocked out by Oakville (20-6) by a count of 3-1.

In Class 3, defending champion Webb City (23-5) topped Aurora (14-12) 6-1 in the sectionals.

Kelly High School (19-11), which won the 2004 Class 2 championship, was knocked off by the team with the best record. Strafford (26-1) took a 4-2 decision.

In Class 1, Silex (20-2) knocked off Harrisburg (21-4).
