John Daly came close, but not close enough on Sunday and found himself just behind Tiger Woods at the World Golf Championships in San Francisco. Daly–who played his high school golf at Helias High School in Jefferson City—and Woods tied after the final hole of regulation at 10-under par.

The tournament went to a playoff and both players shot par on the first hole. On the second playoff hole, Daly had a chance to win, but missed a 15-foot putt. The tournament came to a shocking end when Daly missed his next putt from just three feet away.

For his efforts, Woods took away $1.3 million for the win, while Daly got a check for $750,000.
