A 29-member Commission on Violent Crime will be formed to address Kansas City’s spiraling murder rate. The City Council has approved creating the commission, which will research the crisis and recommend solutions early in the next year. Council member Alvin Brooks proposed establishing the Commission after the city recorded its 96th homicide of the year. Kansas City recorded only 91 murders all of last year.
