Buyer Reportedly Found For Blues

September 29, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that St. Louis Blues owners Bill and Nancy Laurie have agreed to sell the team and the Savvis Center to former NBA executive David Checketts. The Blues are not commenting on the story. If the report is accurate, the Blues will have an owner who is no stranger to running sports franchises. Checketts is the former president and GM of the Utah Jazz and later the New York Knicks. After that, Checketts was named the president and CEO of Madison Square Garden (MSG), which owns the Knicks, New York Rangers of the NHL and New York Liberty of the WNBA. In June, the Lauries put the team up for sale, claiming losses of $60-Million in the last two seasons of play. The 2004-2005 season was cancelled by a player lock out.
