A Judge in St. Louis has thrown out the murder conviction of a man convicted of killing his mother near Linn, 12 years ago. Federal Magistrate David Noce says the jury in the case against Dale Helmig looked at a map that had not been introduced as evidence during the trial. His mother’s body was found in the Osage River in central Missouri. A concrete block had been tied to her body. The State has 30 days to appeal the decision. The Osage County prosecutor has three months to decide whether to file new charges and re-try Helmig.
