NCAA Wrestling Championships To Return To St. Louis

September 23, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

While there is no official home for the NCAA Wrestling Championships, St. Louis seems to be the closest thing to it. After hosting the event in 2000, 2004 and 2005, St. Louis has been awarded the championship for 2008 and 2009.

The two highest attendance totals for the NCAA Wrestling Championships in 2000 (96,994) and 2005 (95,459).

The 2010 event was awarded to Omaha and the 2011 championships went to Philadelphia.

St. Louis is currently bidding for the 2006 NCAA Soccer Championships, also called the College Cup.

The Gateway City is no stranger to national championships. In 2001, St. Louis hosted the NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four and will host it again in 2009. Earlier this year, the city was host to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four. In 2007 the NCAA’s Hockey Championships—the Frozen Four—will be held in St. Louis.
