Governor and Secretary of State Accuse Each Other of Playing Politics

September 21, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Secretary of State Robin Carnahan accuses Governor Matt Blunt of using his State Government Review Commission to play partisan politics. Carnahan is upset with the Commission’s recommendation that the Securities Division move out of the Secretary of State’s office into a new state department. She claims politics motivates the proposal. Governor Blunt flatly denies the charge. He points out he has never endorsed the proposal concerning the Secretary of State’s office. The Commission meets Thursday in Columbia and could vote on final recommendations.
