Court Challenges Launched to Parental Consent Law

September 16, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The first lawsuits have been filed against Missouri’s newest anti-abortion law while the ink of the governor’s signature on it was still fresh. Four groups that provide abortions or abortion guidance have filed suits in Kansas City Circuit Court and Jefferson City Federal Court. The suits judges to block enforcement of the law which allows civil actions by parents against anybody who counsels a minor girl to get an abortion or helps her get it. It also requires doctors at abortion clinics to have hospital privileges within 30 miles of the abortion clinic. The lawsuits say the new law is unconstititonally vague.
