$1.5-Million in grants from the State Economic Development are being handed out to schools providing school-to-work program services at at-risk high school seniors. The agency’s Pat McBride says the Jobs for Missouri Graduates grants will help schools where students will be taught skills in 34 core competencies. McBride says the actual specific job training, such as welding or other trades, would be taught through separate programs either at the high schools or some other education centers. She believes what the students will learn will take them beyond just having a trade skill and will make them more attractive to employers.
