Brad Smith’s 412 yards of total offense and four touchdown passes were good enough to earn him the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday. Smith finished with 317 yards passing and 95 yards to become only the third player in NCAA Division I-A history to amass 6,000 yards passing and 3,000 yards rushing in a career.

Thanks in large part to Smith’s efforts, the Tigers were able to put together 657 yards of total offense in their 44-17 win over Arkansas St. last Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium. It was the second highest total in the nation last week and was the second-best in MU history. In 1949, the Tigers had 665 yards of total offense in a 34-28 win over Kansas.

It was also the first time since 1969 that MU picked up 300 yards passing and 300 yards rushing in a single game. That was in a 69-21 win over Kansas.
