Refugees From Louisiana Arrive in Bootheel

There are now 177 evacuees from New Orleans saying in Dunklin County. The makeshift campground of Camp McClanahan, normally a Summer gathering place for Baptist youth, is now serving as a temporary shelter for people who were staying at the Superdome in New Orleans. State Representative Otto Bean of Holcomb is calling on Governor Matt Blunt to ask President Bush to declare the Bootheel a disaster area due to the extended care for the refugees and the financial pressure put on the region.
