Springfield Finishes Season at .500 After Loss

September 5, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The Springfield Cardinals finished their inaugural season with an 18-9 loss to the Arkansas Travelers, finishing the season with a 70-70 record. Arkansas jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning.

Springfield cut the lead to 7-3 in the third inning, but they allowed another four runs in the top of the fourth and gave up four more in the fifth.

Starter Chris Lambert didn’t even make it out of the first inning, allowing six runs in just 2/3 of an inning. Rick Ankiel was one of the few bright spots for Springfield on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with three RBI’s and three runs.
