Mutual Aid Pact Has Missouri Guardsmen Helping Huricane Relief Effort

September 5, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The number of Missouri National Guardsmen sent to the hurricane-devastated areas of the South is up to 1,400. Governor Matt Blunt signed executive orders sending military personnel and equipment to the stricken region under the Eemrgency Mutual Assistance Compact – a mutual aid pact among states. Blunt says this Compact could one day be beneficial to Missouri in the event of a disaster striking here. He says that while hurricanes are not a part of the disaster landscape in this state, we could suffer tornado damage or serious consequences from an earthquake along the New Madrid Fault.
