It may be difficult to decide which is more unbelievable: The fact that Central Missouri State beat Lincoln University 83-0 or that it was just the third-highest point total in school history.

Either way, it was quite a day for the Mules offense and defense as they improved to 2-0 and the Blue Tigers fell to 1-1 on the season. In week one, CMSU beat Adams St. (Colo.) 14-6 and all 14 points were scored by the defense. On Thursday, senior Delaine Walker got things going in a hurry, by returning the opening kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown.

By the time the first quarter came to a close, CMSU had a 27-0 lead. The Mules added another 42 points in the second quarter and led 69-0 at the half. Two more touchdowns were added for good measure in the third and the scoring came to an end for Central.

In total, CMSU racked up 542 yards of total offense, most of which was gained on the ground. Quarterbacks Toby Korrodi and Mike Spiegel were a combined 8-for-10 for 170 yards.. Spiegel led the rushing attack with 111 yards on four carries. Jeremy Braden had 82 yards on the ground. In all, six Mules rushers had at least 30 yards on the ground.

Lincoln had just 100 total yards on Thursday, 72 coming on their final drive.
