A federal judge has refused to temporarily block the state’s cuts in the Medicaid program. Federal Judge Dean Whipple says he’ll hold another hearing on the suit next Wednesday. Those behind the lawsuit say it’s illegal to eliminate coverage for such things as feeding tubes and walkers for adults. The Legislature approved the cuts this spring and Governor Matt Blunt signed the bill. Backers of the plan say the state has to do it to control Medicaid costs.
