The Springfield Cardinals split a double header with the Wichita Wranglers on Monday, winning the first game 12-4 and losing the second game 6-5.

In game one, center fielder Shaun Boyd was 3-for-5 with five RBI’s and three runs. Four of those RBI’s were the result of a fifth inning grand slam. Aaron Herr and Rayner Laya both drove in two apiece for Springfield.

Starting pitcher Randy Leek pitched seven innings (the games were seven innings apiece) to get his 14th win of the season.

In game two, Springfield scored three times in the top of the first, but allowed four runs in the bottom half of the inning and never led again. Designated hitter Rick Ankiel drove in two runs with two outs in that first inning rally.
