For the most part, the Royals got great pitching, but when it counted most, the bullpen let them down n a 3-1 loss in ten innings to the Twins.

Royals’ reliever Shawn Camp walked Jason Bartlett and Michael Ryan in the top of the tenth, before serving up a two-run double to Nick Punto. That hit broke a 1-1 tie and led to the Twins getting the win.

The Royals went down in order in the 10th, as Joe Nathan earned his 33rd save of the season. Camp (1-4) got the loss.

The only two runs in the first nine innings came in the fourth. In the top half of the inning, Michael Cuddyer singled in Lew Ford with a single off D.J. Carrasco. In the bottom half of the frame, Emil Brown drove in a run with a double that sent Terrence Long home. After that neither team scored until the Twins did in the tenth.

Carrasco lasted five innings and allowed that one run off six hits and a walk. Andy Sisco, Ambiorix Burgos and Mike MacDougal worked the next four innings and allowed just one hit and one walk.
