Nixon Files Suit Over BRAC Decision

August 26, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Attorney General Jay Nixon has filed a lawsuit in federal court in an effort to block the closing of the 131st Fighter Wing at Lambert Field in St. Louis. The Base Realignment and Closure Commission has voted to transfer the F-15s stationed at Lambert Airport to other bases. Nixon says the Pentagon has no right to remove fighter planes belonging to the National Guard without the Governor’s permission. Nixon says the state must press its case quickly. He points out the recommendations now go to the President who has until September 8th to make a decision on whether to forward them to Congress.
