What has been called the last political duel with firearms in Missouri history occurred twenty-five years to the day that two prominent Missourians gunned down each other in another duel. In those two duels, a distinguished Missouri war veteran, Missouri’s only representative in Congress for a while, a governor -to-be and a lieutenant governor-to-be were involved. Only one of them emerged without a wound.
