Mayfield Wins In Michigan, Edwards In Fourth

August 22, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Jeremy Mayfield took the checkered flag at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday, beating out Scott Riggs, Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart.

Edwards, who grabbed his seventh top-five finish of the season, moved up one spot in the points standings from 10th to ninth. He leap-frogged Joplin native Jamie McMurray, who finished 20th. He’s now 10th in the standings. The top ten drivers after the 26th race of the season will qualify for the championship. There are three more races until the cut off.

St. Louis native Rusty Wallace finished 13th and remains in fourth place in the standings.
