State Auditor Claire McCaskill complains that the Blunt Administration is blocking her office from conducting performance audits. McCaskill makes the charge when releasing her audit disclosing the state still is dragging its feet in getting child support payments to the proper parents. Governor Matt Blunt counters that the charge is absurd. He does concede he questions the legality of such performance audits, though he denies his department heads are keeping the Auditor from performing her duty. Blunt says his administration is dedicated to improving the efficiency of state government and will consider any recommendations the State Auditor makes in that regard.
